2024 AD Budget and Its Importance

What Is Advertising?

Advertisements are everywhere; you see them on your TV, billboards, and mobile games! They're the primary source for people's attention to a particular product or service. They always intend to reach a specific audience, whether kids, teens, or adults. The more influential an ad is, the more impact it'll have on the business utilizing it.

You may be familiar with different advertising strategies, such as app ads like texts, push notifications, and banners; you can also be sent ads through subscriptions in emails! As efficient ads are, they are cost-effective, especially if you want an ad that effectively persuades the audience.

Businesses have to create a budget for their advertising to have these funds. An advertising budget represents the total amount of money a business or company collects for its 'expenses' related to advertising its products or services. However, many companies want to know how much they should put aside for their advertising budget, and this is where predictions come in.

Using data from years prior, many companies pull up reports that include their business orders, revenue, cost of goods, and more from previous years to forecast what the next year for their advertising budget will be projected to be. However, just for the sake of this blog, we'll be angling it from a global scale!

Since 2023 is still ongoing, we'll review data from 2022 and how much spending went into advertising. 2022 is an excellent year to take a look at because it was the year when we fully came out of the pandemic; nonetheless, due to the pandemic, there was high inflation, energy supply shortages, and more, which affected the advertising budget. Despite that, businesses still advertised towards the end of 2022, and spending levels rose to pre-pandemic levels.

In 2022:

  • The overall global advertising and marketing spend was around $191.53 billion higher than in 2019.

  • Digital, marketing, and alternative advertising spending were around $190.51 billion higher than in 2019.

  • Traditional advertising and marketing spending was around only $1.02 billion higher than in 2019.

2022 was a year that was a turning point in the marketing industry regarding spending levels on advertisements. It brought back previous spending levels and made it even higher.

2024, as well as upcoming years in the future, will continue to break the boundaries of spending prices, and it’s projected to continue to rise from here.
